1. How do I enroll for a class?
Enroll in any of our Continuing Ed classes in one of the following ways:
a) Print off and complete our registration form and mail along with your check or credit card payment to:

b) Call us at 913-491-4432 and enroll by phone. Please have your credit card information ready when you call.

2. How do I know I’m in the course?
You will receive confirmation via email when we receive your registration form and payment. For online courses, you will receive login information, textbook(s), and an introductory email from your instructor prior to the start of the course.

3. Do I need a textbook?
Yes. The Educational Resource Fee (ERF) covers the cost of textbooks and other materials for the course. For on-line courses, these materials will be mailed to the address you provide on your registration form. For classroom courses, books and materials will be distributed during class.

4. Can I transfer my Continuing Ed hours into your Master’s program?
At Baker, degree-seeking students may apply up to six hours of approved graduate transfer credit toward a Master’s degree if the hours were completed prior to entering the degree program.

5. Can I use these classes to re-certify with the state?
While most Continuing Ed classes can easily be used to re-certify, it is your responsibility to verify this with your state or district prior to enrolling in the course. Please contact your state department for specific information.

6. Is Baker University accredited?
Yes, Baker has been continuously accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools since 1913. Baker has also met the rigorous accrediting standards of the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).

7. When will I get my grades?
Grades are usually available 3-4 weeks after the completion of the course.

Once you access My Baker Portal , under the “Academics” tab you will see a drop down menu which will display “My Grades”.  Simply choose and click on the "Filter Grades by Term" and review the term of your choice.   

8. How do I get a transcript?
Grades for Continuing Ed courses will appear on an official transcript. Please allow 3-4 weeks after the conclusion of your course before requesting a transcript. To request your transcript, print off the Baker University transcript request form and mail along with payment to:

9. What are the advantages of taking an on-line class?
The major advantage is convenience. With on-line learning, you eliminate the commute time and enhance your flexibility. Though weekly participation and assignments are required, the Blackboard site is available 24 hours a day so you can complete your work at times that fit your weekly schedule.

10. Do I ever have to come to campus for an on-line course?
No, all instruction occurs on-line.

11. What if I need help from my instructor?
Assistance is usually only an email or phone call away. Instructors will generally respond to inquiries within 48 hours.

12. What type of technology and skills are required for on-line classes?
You must provide your email address and have daily access to a computer with internet service, solid internet and email skills including the ability to send attachments, and strong reading, writing, and typing skills. Additionally, Microsoft Word or Works software is strongly preferred.
